Pannenkoeken, or Dutch pancakes, are like crepes but a bit thicker. Easy to make and super yummy! You can add sweet or savoury toppings; the options are endless!
The recipe below is how I make them. Leave out the optional ingredients for the basic pannenkoeken recipe.
Ingredients
- 250 gram flour
- 500 ml milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
- pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, sugar and salt to a bowl and whisk together
Add the milk, eggs, vanilla extract and melted butter to the flour and mix until you don't see any dry flour. Don't over mix
Heat a frying pan and add a bit of butter to the pan, swirl it around
Add a ladle full (about 1/3 - 1/2 cup) of batter to the pan and swirl the pan around so the batter covers the bottom
Bake the pannenkoek for a minute or 2, flip and bake for about 30-60 sec.
Repeat until no batter is left
Notes
You can easily double the ingredients for more pannenkoeken
