Speculaas Choc Chip Cookies

Classic chocolate chip cookies with a Dutch twist by using speculaas spices.

Speculaas Choc Chip Cookies

Serves: 20

Ingredients

  • 180 gram butter, melted
  • 250 gram flour
  • 2 teaspoons speculaas spices
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 250 gram brown sugar
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
  • 1 egg
  • 200 gram milk and/or pure chocolate chips

Instructions

Melt the butter in a pan or microwave

Combine flour, speculaas spices, baking powder and salt in a large bowl

In a different bowl, add the brown sugar and vanilla sugar (or extract) and pour in the melted butter

Mix until the sugar has melted and then add the egg

Add the butter/sugar mixture to the flour and mix until combined

Pre-heat over to 170 degrees Celsius and leave the cookie dough to cool for a couple of minutes

Mix though the chocolate chips with a wooden spoon

Scoop about 2 tablespoons of cookie dough and form a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. About 8 per sheet and leave some space in between them.

Bake them in the middle of the oven for about 13-15 minutes

Wait about 5-10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack (they're still very soft)
